Leadership
Marcin Maslej, C.E.T.
Principal | Founding Partner (Operations)
Marcin brings over 20 years of experience in civil engineering design and construction. He leads detailed design and coordinates agency approvals for linear infrastructure and site development projects across Southern Ontario, with a particular focus on new roadways and road improvements.
As co-manager of Urbanworks’ Engineering Services Department, Marcin helps guide business development, project delivery, and day-to-day operations. His responsibilities include client relationships, budgeting and cost control, team workload planning, and project tendering.
Outside of work, Marcin enjoys time with his wife and two energetic boys, travelling, weekends at the cottage, and staying active.
Taras Dumyn, P.Eng.
Principal | Founding Partner (Engineering)
Taras brings over 25 years of experience in municipal engineering, spanning construction inspection, detailed design, feasibility assessments, and planning studies. He leads projects from initial site investigations through design and agency approvals, overseeing the preparation of engineering drawings and contract documents.
As head of Urbanworks’ Engineering Services Department, Taras guides project teams and coordinates technical delivery across a range of municipal engineering projects.
Outside of work, Taras enjoys road trips with his wife and son, working on his car, and weightlifting.
Michael Paulo, P.Eng.
Principal | Founding Partner (Water Resources)
Michael brings over 20 years of experience in water resources and municipal engineering. He has designed and managed stormwater management plans and pond projects locally and internationally, including in the United States, Cuba, Guatemala, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates.
As head of Urbanworks’ Water Resources Department, Michael oversees water resources deliverables from early planning through detailed design. He leads teams preparing master planning and functional servicing reports, as well as detailed infrastructure designs for water supply and sewage systems.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, and playing or coaching soccer.

Giancarlo Volpe, P.Eng.
Engineer | Design Services
Giancarlo is a Senior Engineer at Urbanworks with extensive experience in water resources engineering, stormwater management, and grading and servicing design for site developments and subdivisions.
He leads a design team within the Engineering Services Department, taking an integrated approach to grading, drainage, and servicing to deliver practical engineering solutions.
Brian Bordignon, P.Eng.
Engineer | Contract Administration
Brian brings over 25 years of experience in contract administration and construction oversight. As head of Urbanworks’ Contract Administration Department, he manages day-to-day operations and oversees the inspection team. He also leads cost estimating and tendering for the firm.
Brian’s interests include the research and development of emerging technologies.
Christian Volpe, B.Eng.
Project Designer / Analyst
Christian is a Project Designer and Water Resources Analyst at Urbanworks, supporting engineering design through technical calculations, analysis, and project reporting.
His work helps translate project requirements and analytical findings into clear documentation and practical design solutions.
Robert Forgione
Construction Inspector
Robert brings formal training and experience in sewer and watermain inspection, supported by practical knowledge of construction methods and equipment.
His broader experience in residential construction, electrical utility installation, and equipment manufacturing gives him valuable insight into how different trades and construction activities come together on our sites.
